A document-style form builder works like a text page: you type, press / to insert a block, and the form appears as you go. That is how Tally works and how Qwenvo works. This tutorial builds one form from start to finish. The menu names below are Qwenvo's; the same habits carry over to Tally.
Plan on 15 minutes. The example is an event feedback form.
Step 1: Start the form
- Sign up, then click New form on the dashboard.
- Type a title and press Enter. Example: "Workshop feedback".
- Or skip the typing: on the empty-form screen, choose Create with AI and describe the form. You can also open Ask Qwenvo with Ctrl J at any time.
Step 2: Add questions with the slash menu
Type / on a new line to open the block menu. Pick a block and the question and its input are inserted together.
- Short answer for the person's name.
- Email for contact details.
- Rating for "How was the workshop?".
- Multiple choice for "Which session did you attend?".
- Long answer for "What should we change?".
Press Enter for a new block. Hover a block to delete it, insert below it or open its settings with the six-dot handle. The keyboard shortcuts list covers duplicate, move and undo.
Step 3: Mark what is required
Open a question's settings and switch on Required for the ones that matter. Keep required questions few; every required field gives a respondent another reason to quit.
Step 4: Reuse an answer with @
Type @ inside text to mention an earlier answer. If you asked for the name on page one, the thank-you page can say "Thanks, @Name". This is called answer piping.
Step 5: Add logic
Say you only want to ask "What went wrong?" when the rating is low.
- Open the rating question's menu and choose Add conditional logic.
- Set When the rating is less than 3.
- Set Then to show the "What went wrong?" block. Hide that block first (Ctrl Shift H) so it only appears when the rule fires.
- Preview the form and test both paths.
Logic can show or hide blocks, jump to a page, calculate and require answers. The conditional logic help page covers each action.
Step 6: Pages, thank-you and a progress bar
- Type
/pagefor a New page wherever a new screen should begin. - End with a Thank-you page block and write a message.
- In the Settings drawer, switch on the progress bar for longer forms.
Step 7: Make it yours and publish
- Open Customize for colours, fonts, button styles, layout, logo and cover.
- In Settings, switch off Qwenvo branding.
- Click Publish at the top right. You land on the Share tab with the public link.
- Copy the link, or paste an embed code into your site.
- Submit one test response and check it in the Submissions tab.
To shortcut all of this, start from the event feedback survey template and edit it.
Where Tally is the better pick for learning
Tally has been around since 2021, so it has far more tutorials, videos and forum threads written about it. Qwenvo launched in October 2026 and has fewer. The help centre covers the editor in create your first form.
Common beginner mistakes
- Marking every question as required.
- Using Long answer where a Multiple choice would do.
- Forgetting to test on a phone.
- Skipping the thank-you page, so respondents are unsure the form went through.
- Building logic before the questions are final.
Where to go next
Once the first form works, try the features that save time later: hidden fields to carry a campaign name into the results, a Calculated field for a quote or a quiz score, and an integration that sends each answer to a sheet or a Slack channel. Each one is a few clicks, and each is free on Qwenvo.
Questions people ask
How do I use Tally forms?
Create a form, type / to insert blocks, add logic where needed, publish and share the link. Qwenvo follows the same pattern.
Can I move my Tally form to Qwenvo?
There is no Tally importer. Paste your questions as plain text or Markdown into the importer, then rebuild the logic. The steps are in switching from Tally.
Is the free version enough to learn on?
Yes, on both. Qwenvo has every feature on, so nothing in the tutorial is locked.
Tally prices and plan details were checked on tally.so on 2026-10-29.
Every feature, $0, no card.
