Microsoft Forms is free with a Microsoft account and works best inside Microsoft 365. If you are outside that world, or you need payments, your own domain or a design that is yours, Qwenvo is a free alternative that needs only a link and works on any website.
What Microsoft Forms is good at
Microsoft Forms is part of Microsoft 365, free with a Microsoft account, and it supports quizzes. Its natural home is a company that already runs on Microsoft tools. Check Microsoft Forms for what your own plan includes; we do not list specifics beyond that.
Why people look for another one
- You are not on Microsoft 365. A form tool tied to one ecosystem is awkward for a freelancer, a club or a non-profit that uses something else.
- You need a public form with your brand. A customer-facing form should look like your site.
- You need to take payment or a signature in the form.
- You want answers to go somewhere other than Microsoft tools, such as Notion, Airtable, Slack or Google Sheets.
What Qwenvo gives you instead
- Free for everyone. No paid plans, no card, no trial.
- A document-style editor. Type
/to add a block,@to reuse an answer later. - Payments through your own Stripe account, 0% Qwenvo platform fee.
- Signature, File upload, Rating, Matrix, Ranking and many other blocks.
- Custom domains. Use a subdomain on the Domains page: CNAME at your DNS, Verify, then pick it on the Share tab.
- Integrations: Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable, Slack, Discord, Linear, Zapier, Make and webhooks.
- Quizzes with scoring and calculated fields.
Replace a Microsoft form in 10 minutes
- Create a Qwenvo account. The people who answer need no account at all.
- Copy your questions from the old form into a Word file or plain text and import them (see import forms), or describe the form to the AI on the empty-form screen.
- Choose blocks with
/. Use Multiple choice or Dropdown for choices and Linear scale for ratings. - Add conditional logic from a question's menu, Add conditional logic, to show follow-ups only when relevant.
- In Settings, set a redirect, turn on notifications to your email, and switch off Qwenvo branding.
- Share a link or paste the Standard embed into your site.
Start from a template such as the employee satisfaction survey or the IT support request.
Where Microsoft Forms is still the better pick
If your team lives in Teams, Outlook and Excel and everyone is signed in already, Microsoft Forms fits with no setup, and it is already part of what you pay for. Qwenvo launched in October 2026, is hosted in the United States, has no mobile app and offers Stripe only for payments.
Three signs it is time to move
- People outside your organisation need to answer. If you keep fielding questions about sign-in, a form that needs no account removes the friction.
- The form needs to sell, sign or collect files. Payments, signatures and large uploads are where a basic form tool runs out.
- The results need to go elsewhere. If your team works in Notion, Slack or Airtable, push answers there with a native integration or a webhook.
If none of those apply, you may not need to move at all. A form tool you already pay for through Microsoft 365 is hard to beat on convenience.
A useful middle path is to keep Microsoft Forms for internal staff surveys and use Qwenvo for anything public. The two do not conflict, and you avoid a big migration.
Whichever tool you pick, keep the form short, test it on a phone and read the first few responses yourself. Most problems show up in the first ten answers, and they are far cheaper to fix then than after a hundred.
