Qwenvo

A free Google Forms alternative for teachers and schools

By the Qwenvo team · · 4 min read

Teachers who want more than Google Forms can use Qwenvo: scored quizzes, homework uploads, signed permission slips and class sign-ups, all on a free account with no student logins. It works as a document you type into, so a new form takes a few minutes.

What a classroom actually needs from a form

Most school forms fall into five jobs. Here is how each one maps to Qwenvo.

Why Google Forms starts to pinch

Google Forms is free with a Google account, it has a quiz mode with grading, and many schools already run on Google accounts. The friction shows up with file uploads, which need the respondent to sign in with Google, with design and branding that you can only change a little, and with payments, which Google Forms does not have built in. A bake sale, a trip fee or a yearbook order needs a different tool.

Set up a homework form in six steps

  1. Sign up and open the empty-form screen.
  2. Type the title, then / and pick Short answer for the student's name and Dropdown for the class.
  3. Type / again and add File upload for the work itself.
  4. Add a Long answer block for notes to the teacher.
  5. Open Settings and turn on prevent duplicate submissions, set close on a date for the deadline, and turn on confirmation emails so students get proof they handed it in.
  6. Open the Share tab and send the link through your class page.

Settings that help in a school

  • Password protection keeps a form to the people who were given the password.
  • Close after a number of responses works for limited places on a trip or club.
  • Data retention deletes submissions automatically after a number of days you choose.
  • Languages: the form supports 45+ languages including right-to-left ones, useful for families who read different languages.
  • Respondent email verification sends a one-time code so you know the address is real.

Results land in a Submissions table you can export to CSV, JSON or XLSX, or push to Google Sheets or Notion. Unlimited teammates means a whole department can share one workspace.

Where Google Forms is still the better pick

If your school is built around Google accounts and sign-in is already a given, Google Forms fits in without any setup. Qwenvo is hosted in the United States and launched in October 2026, so check your school or district's rules on student data before you collect it with any tool. Also, per-submission PDFs cannot draw some scripts such as Devanagari or Arabic; CSV and XLSX exports can.

Three classroom setups worth copying

A few concrete setups show how the blocks fit together. None of them needs more than a free account.

  • A weekly exit ticket. Three questions at the end of a lesson: a Rating for confidence, a Multiple choice for the topic they found hardest, and a Short answer for one question they still have. Put the link in your class page and read the Insights charts before the next lesson.
  • A reading-club vote. Use the book club vote template to pick the next title. Close the form after a number of responses or on a date so the result is settled.
  • A club sign-up with limited places. Set the form to close after a number of responses, and add confirmation emails so every child's parent has a record. Add an Email block with respondent email verification if you need to be sure the address is real.

Keep each form to one job. A short form that does one thing gets answered; a long form that tries to cover the whole term gets abandoned, and drop-off analytics will show you exactly where.

Questions people ask

Do students need an account to answer?

No. Anyone with the link can respond, including on a phone. That also removes the Google sign-in step for file uploads.

Can I make a scored quiz?

Yes. Quizzes with scoring and calculated fields are built in, and conditional logic can send students to different pages by score. See the guide to quizzes.

Is it really free for schools?

Qwenvo has no paid plans for anyone. Fair use applies only to extreme volumes, as the fair use policy explains.

Every feature, $0, no card.
