The best free alternative to Tally is Qwenvo, because it keeps Tally's document-style editor and switches on everything Tally charges for: branding removal, custom domains, teammates and partial submissions. Tally Pro is $29 a month. Disclosure: we make Qwenvo, so it is listed first. The other four picks are below, with where each one wins.
How we ranked them
Tally's free plan is generous, so an alternative only helps if it fixes something Tally holds back. We ranked on these criteria, in this order:
- Price to unlock the Pro-style features. Branding off, own domain, a second person in the workspace.
- Free-plan limits. Caps on responses, forms or seats.
- Logic and design. Can you make the form look like yours without paying?
- AI. Does it only build forms, or does it help with the answers too?
- Honesty about limits. Every tool below has a catch, and we state it.
The five at a glance
- 1. Qwenvo: $0, no paid plans, every feature on. Closest in feel to Tally.
- 2. Fillout: free plan with unlimited forms and seats, 1,000 responses a month. Strong integrations.
- 3. Youform: unlimited forms and responses under fair use. Typeform-like layout.
- 4. Formbricks: open source, self-host the Community Edition. Built for product surveys.
- 5. Google Forms: free with a Google account. Plain, and everyone knows it.
1. Qwenvo
Best for: people who like Tally's editor and hit its Pro wall. You type / to add a block and @ to reuse an earlier answer, the same muscle memory.
What is free that Tally charges for: removing the badge, custom domains, unlimited teammates, partial submissions, custom CSS, link previews, visit and drop-off analytics, 90-day version history, data retention and email verification. Uploads go to 1 GB per file. It also adds AI triage on up to 10,000 submissions a month. See the full Pro feature comparison.
Watch out for: Qwenvo launched in October 2026, so there are few reviews. It is hosted in the United States, pays out through Stripe only, has no mobile app, and has no Tally importer, so you rebuild forms (the switching guide takes about ten minutes).
2. Fillout
Best for: teams whose answers should land in Airtable, Notion or HubSpot. Fillout's integrations are its strength.
The free plan allows unlimited forms and seats with 1,000 responses a month. Branding removal and custom CSS start on its Pro plan, and custom domains and partial submissions on Business, so you meet a paywall again. Watch out for: the monthly response cap. Check Fillout's pricing page for current plans.
3. Youform
Best for: a Typeform-style, one-question-at-a-time form without Typeform's price. Unlimited forms and responses are free under fair use, and it has landing pages.
Watch out for: custom domains and branding removal are paid, the same two things people leave Tally to get. See Youform's pricing page.
4. Formbricks
Best for: product and experience surveys, and teams that want to host the software themselves. The AGPLv3 Community Edition is free to self-host.
Watch out for: self-hosting means you run the server, the updates and the backups. It is built for in-product surveys, not for payment forms or order forms. Paid licences are quoted on its pricing page.
5. Google Forms
Best for: quick internal forms and graded quizzes among people who already have Google accounts.
Watch out for: no built-in payments, respondents must sign in with Google to upload files, and design and branding are limited. It is also not document-style, so it feels different from Tally.
Where Tally is still the better pick
Where Tally is still the better pick: your data has to be hosted in Europe, you want a tool with five years of reviews behind it, or you depend on an integration Qwenvo does not have yet.

If your complaint is the paywall, Qwenvo, because nothing is locked behind a plan. If your complaint is integrations, look at Fillout. If you need a self-hosted setup, Formbricks.
Is Tally actually free?
Its free plan covers unlimited forms and submissions with logic, calculations, payments and signatures. Pro and Business add the extras. Our breakdown of what is free on Tally lists them.

Not on Qwenvo; there is no Tally or Google Forms importer. You can paste questions as text or Markdown, or upload a screenshot, through the importer.
