Tally vs Google Forms vs Qwenvo: which should you use?

By the Qwenvo team · · 3 min read

Pick Google Forms if everyone already has a Google account and you want a quick, plain form or quiz. Pick Tally if you want a cleaner document-style editor and payments. Pick Qwenvo if you want Tally's style without paying for the finishing touches. All three are free to start; the difference is what each one holds back.

The three tools in one paragraph each

Google Forms is free with a Google account. It has quiz mode with grading, but no built-in payments, and respondents must sign in with Google to upload files. Design and branding are limited.

Tally is free for unlimited forms and submissions, with logic, calculations, payments, signatures and uploads up to 10 MB per file. Branding removal, custom domains, teammates and more need Pro, $29 a month.

Qwenvo has no paid plans. The editor works like a document (type / for a block), and every feature is on for every account.

Which to pick for what

  • A quick internal poll in a Google Workspace team: Google Forms. No new login, familiar to everyone.
  • A quiz with automatic grading: Google Forms or Qwenvo. Qwenvo does quizzes with scoring through calculated fields; try the quiz template.
  • Taking payments: Tally or Qwenvo. Google Forms has no built-in payments. Qwenvo uses your own Stripe account at 0% platform fee.
  • File uploads from the public: Qwenvo or Tally. On Google Forms respondents must sign in with Google, which stops many outsiders.
  • A form that matches your brand: Qwenvo, or Tally on Pro. Google Forms design is limited.
  • Embedding on a website: Tally or Qwenvo. Qwenvo gives you Standard, Popup and Full page embeds you paste into WordPress, Webflow, Framer, Wix, Squarespace or Notion.
  • Conditional logic and calculated prices: Tally or Qwenvo.

Cost over a year

  • Google Forms: $0 with a Google account.
  • Tally: $0 on Free; $290 a year for Pro if you need the badge off, a custom domain or teammates.
  • Qwenvo: $0, with every feature on.

A 10-minute test on Qwenvo

  1. Sign up and click New form.
  2. Describe your form to Create with AI, or use the contact form template.
  3. Type / and add a File upload block. Uploads can be up to 1 GB per file.
  4. Open Settings, switch off Qwenvo branding, and publish.
  5. Copy the link from the Share tab and open it in a private window. That is what respondents see.

Where the others are better

Google Forms is the easiest choice when your respondents and your data already live in Google, because it needs no extra account or tool. Tally has more community history and is hosted in Europe, while Qwenvo is hosted in the United States and launched in October 2026. Qwenvo has no mobile app and no HIPAA offering; Tally has no mobile app either. If you need those, Jotform lists a mobile app and HIPAA features on its paid plans.

Moving a Google Form to Qwenvo

There is no Google Forms importer, because Google Forms has no export. You rebuild it, which is quick for a short form.

  1. Copy your questions into a text file, one per line, or into Markdown with a ## line for each question and - lines for options.
  2. In Qwenvo, open a new form and choose Import form, then paste the text.
  3. Check each question type and mark the required ones.
  4. Add a quiz score with calculated fields if you used Google Forms' grading.

The importer is described on the import help page.

A note on data and sharing

Google Forms keeps responses in your Google account, which is convenient if your files already live there. Tally and Qwenvo keep them in their own dashboards and can send each answer on to Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable, Slack and others. If you want everything in one place anyway, that routing takes a couple of minutes to set up on Qwenvo's Integrations tab.
